ECKHART VON GLAN studied painting at the Braunschweig Academy of Fine Arts under Lienhard von Monkiewitsch and Alfred Winter-Rust until 1985. He continued his studies at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts under KP Brehmer, specializing in painting and printmaking. In 1989, ECKHART VON GLAN completed his studies with the First State Examination and has since worked as an art and English teacher in Hamburg. Since 2002, he has devoted his summer holidays to his "summer garden studio," creating large-format oil paintings. He creates smaller works on paper in spring, autumn, and winter.

"When I first looked at it, I felt it was really close to perfection, and I still do. I wish you could get really close, because the surface deserves a closer look. I only worked on it for five days, which I consider one of the shortest periods ever for a work of this size. I remember putting it on the easel at least a dozen times in the following weeks, but it just felt good and finished, no matter how much I looked at it more closely. To me, it counts more as a giant drawing than a painting." (Eckhart von Glan)
