Galerie Sophie Vandré, together with Scheytt Galerie, is pleased to invite you to the exhibition of paintings "BAGATELLEN UND" by Berlin-based artist JEHAN.
The painting exhibition focuses on still lifes and landscapes—classic genres that have fascinated artists and audiences alike for centuries.
Still lifes were once profound, symbolic compositions featuring everyday objects. In the modern era, they often evolved into depictions where style took precedence over the subject matter. JEHAN’s still lifes are colorful renderings of motifs he holds dear—such as vases, fruit, flowers, and candies—in which color itself sometimes becomes the subject. A striking, almost unassuming simplicity stands out, contrasting with what otherwise appears complex.
Picturesque landscapes of Walchensee and the Söse Reservoir in the Harz region are on display, as well as a mischievous-looking owl, paintings titled "Mittenmang bei Mondschein" (Right in the Middle by Moonlight) and "Landschaft mit Hosenträger" (Landscape with Suspenders), and quite a bit more.
JEHAN’s oil paintings are fresh, aesthetic, and arranged in an original way. Here and there, they bring a smile to one’s face.
